About Us
The AISD Assistive Technology Team practices an open team approach that allows team members to contribute their talents toward accomplishing common goals to meet the needs of all students with disabilities.
Our Team
The Assistive Technology Department consists of:
- 4 Assistive Technology Practitioners ( A T P ).
- 1 Assistive Technology Teaching Assistant.
- 1 Assistive Technology Secretary.
We are a consultative team that works to:
- Assist the campus teams in assessing for the assistive technology and individualized augmentative communication needs of students.
- Assist with the acquisition of needed Assistive Technology devices/materials to enable these students to access the curriculum and gain control of their environment within the least restrictive environment.
- Assist with the coordination of all the services available to a student that will support the use of Assistive Technology.
- Provide any and all members of the campus teams with training and ongoing staff development on any recommended assistive technology, implementation/integration strategies, and additional ideas for modifying the educational environment to meet the needs of the students they serve.
- Provide the campus with the support necessary to maintain the consistent use of any Assistive Technology solutions.
Vision Statement
The vision of the AISD Assistive Technology Department is to ensure that every student identified with a disability will have access to appropriate and effective Assistive Technology solutions.
Mission Statement
The mission of the AISD Assistive Technology Department is to maximize student achievement through ongoing consultation and training of campus support teams in a student-centered assessment process that leads to the determination and implementation of appropriate and effective Assistive Technology solutions.
