BEAR DAD PROGRAM

The Bear Dad program consists of Bailey dads who volunteer to support the staff assigned to monitor students during lunchtime. Dads get a chance to mingle with the students while monitoring behavior. This program is designed to provide students with positive role models as well as a higher level of safety. Dad's need to be available at least once a month for one or more lunch periods. The three lunch periods are from 11:20 - 1:40. In addition to the monitoring portion of the program, our Bear Dad Booster Club exitsts to improve student life at Bailey through projects and fundraisers.

Here is what a few current Bear Dads have to say about the program:

“I participated in the pioneer year of the Bailey Bear Dad program.  Not only did I enjoy interacting with the students, but I also got to learn a little more about "life as a six grade student during lunch".  It was very interesting and enlightening.  I'm proud to say, by our mere presence as Bear Dads, we get a chance to make a difference in those students' lives.  It's really a great feeling to know my son, Bryson, and the rest of the sixth grade class appreciates our presence and leadership.  Hats off to Lisa, Veronica and Dr. Fletcher for putting together such a fine program and allowing me to be a part of it.  I'll be back next year!” -Durell

" I have enjoyed volunteering as a Bailey Bear Dad. I was happy to see the program up for one of the AISD Awards at the end of the school year!  I think the program is important since it sends a clear and lasting message to the kids that the men in their lives do care about their school and are willing to take an active role in helping make it a better place." –Joe

“Bailey Bear dads get to interact with their child and classmates and they all appreciate you being involved.  You will gain insights about your child and their friends.” –Lonnie
