Bedichek's Virtual Tour

As a tribute to Roy Bedichek's love for nature, our campus features an Outdoor Learning Center with wildscape, ponds, and instructional areas. It has been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as an Official Wetlands and Habitats training site. Nestled in our beautiful courtyard is a fish pond surrounded by banana and magnolia trees. Students not only enjoy the beauty of the pond, but use it for interdisciplinary studies.

Following Dr.William Glasser's beliefs that a "Quality School" must meet the five basic needs of Freedom, Fun, Power, Safety and Belonging to create a Quality World in which to learn and work, the Bedichek campus provides students and staff areas to play and relax. Our cafeteria houses pool tables, ping-pong tables, chess and checker tables, a shuffleboard table and foosball. Outdoors, students may eat at picnic table areas or play on the basketball courts.

The newest addition to Bedichek's campus facilities is an amphitheatre called the "ROPES Staging Area." Located opposite the ROPES course, it seats approximately 100 people and is handicapped-accessible. Complete with a concrete stage, this is a wonderful setting for presentations, plays, concerts, meetings, and classroom activities.

When you come to school at Bedichek, the outdoors is indoors. It is wonderful to view our beautiful courtyard in all types of weather. Never feeling trapped inside a building all day adds to the joy of our campus. Students maintain the vegetation and fishpond. Bedichek Courtyard

Teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and respect are cultivated through the Bedichek Reality Oriented Physical Experiential Course System(ROPES). Certified instructors guide students through a variety of low, middle, and high level obstacle-activities. The ROPES course is a highlight of our campus culture.

Every effort has been made to provide top quality athletic facilities, such as the outdoor volleyball court. An underground drainage system keeps the course in peak condition. The court is used through the physical education classes as well as by the community.

Students in Computer Lab
A grant-writing initiative blessed Bedichek with top quality technology. Five labs provide dual platform opportunities for students and internet access. A Lightspan Sony Playstation Lab allows students to fill learning gaps and meet academic challenges in game form. Wireless technology supports flexibility and creativity in teaching and learning. It is not
unusual to see students with laptops in the Outdoor Learning Center, courtyard or amphitheatre.
