Clifton CDS is a part of the Austin Independent School District. Clifton accepts students on an application basis from all AISD high schools. The program is made possible by a partnership amongst AISD Special Education Department, AISD College and Preparatory Program - Career and Technical Education Department and many Partners in Education.
The Jerry Mac Clifton Center was dedicated in 1977 and has continuously served students with disabilities in the Austin Independent School District since that time. Our current programming has only existed since 2007.
In October 2008, Clifton CDS received a Chairman's Commendation from the Austin Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities. In October 2013, Clifton CDS was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the same Mayor's Committee.
The mission of the Clifton Career Development School is to provide a vocational instructional setting to help prepare students with disabilities to be productive, contributing citizens in a multi-cultural society and to live as independently as possible.
