"The National Achievement Scholarship Program has determined which of the 1600 students named semifinalists in September 2009 have qualified as Finalists in the competition. All finalists will be considered for National Achievement Scholarships to be offered to outstanding Black American students in 2010."
· Angela and Heather Beadle, Crockett High School Girls basketball players, were highlighted by KVUE for their outstanding play in district.

· Ms. Denise Collier, Interim Chief Academic Officer for Austin ISD is scheduled to address the Crockett Faculty on February 4, 2010. Her presentation, The Race to Mediocrity, will discuss why we need to continue to raise standards so students are prepared for College and/or the workforce.
· The National Honor Society will be collecting coins during ASAP on Friday. These coins will be donated to the Red Cross to assist with relief work in Haiti.
· Please congratulate the following 10th grade students for being selected to participate in this year's Seedling Foundation's CAMP (College Admissions Mentoring Program). This program is for students who achieved high scores on the PSAT taken last October. The purpose of this program is to tutor and mentor these students for the National Merit Scholarship Program, as well as to help with college searches and applications. There are only 24 students that were selected district wide, and these four will be representing Crockett:

o Orlando Sanchez
o Lucie Arvallo
o Angel Cortez
