Spanish Students Excel

Posted: April 24, 9:52 am

Congratulations to the 66 Gorzycki Spanish students who placed in the
National Spanish Examination.  The National Spanish Examinations (NSE) are
online, standardized assessment tools for Grades 6 -12, given voluntarily
by over 3,800 teachers throughout the United States to measure proficiency
and achievement of students who are studying Spanish as a second language.

The NSE is the most widely used tests of Spanish in the United States.  In
the spring of 2011, a total of 140,373 students participated in the online
version of the exam.  Many administrative and teaching associations and
organizations at the local, state and national levels recognize them.  The
National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed this
program on the NASSP National Advisory List of Contests and Activities for
2011-2012.

Gorzycki student totals that placed in the NSE include: Gold (3), Silver
(7), Bronze (14) and Honorable Mention (42).

·       Gold (95th percentile and above)
·       Silver (85th through 94th percentiles)
·       Bronze (75th through 84th percentiles)
·       Honorable Mention (50th through 74th percentiles)

Again, congratulations to all 66 Gorzycki students for their hard efforts
in obtaining great merit on these exams.

Dear Parents,
There has been a confirmed case of pertussis here at Gorzycki. Your
student will be bringing home a letter informing you of the actions you
will need to take.  As an adult this is usually not serious should you
contract it; however, if you are in contact with babies it is recommended
that you be vaccinated because the disease can be deadly to infants.
Please contact your doctor to determine what is best for you to do.
Attached is an  information sheet as well as a copy of the letter your
student is bringing home today.
