Dear Parents and Eighth Grade Students,

Gorzycki needs your assistance and understanding.Due to increased enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year, Gorzycki has a locker dilemma. We currently have 60 more students than we have lockers. We have received cost estimates ranging from $15,000- $20,000 for approximately 200 more lockers. This does not include the cost of installation. The cost to the school seems prohibitive when you consider the rapidly climbing enrollment and the uncertainty that even adding 200 more lockers would ultimately solve our problem. Furthermore, Gorzycki does not have the money for such expenditure, especially in light of the current AISD budget situation.

The Gorzycki leadership team determined it was best to delay the addition of lockers for this year in order to explore options for fundraising to buy lockers or to consider other options such as going “lockerless” schoolwide. Therefore, we are seeking 60 eighth graders willing to share a locker with one of their eighth grade friends for this school year. We understand this is not ideal but we ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges and excitement of increased enrollment during difficult financial times.
