Academy of Scientific Inquiry and Design

The Academy of Scientific Inquiry and Design will provide every student with rigorous academic studies, hands-on inquiry emphasizing math, science and technology, and the tools and knowledge base required for a successful postsecondary education.

This Academy will be the Academy of Engineering, Automotive Technology, and Health Science and will have its separate elective group that will focus students on a chosen major.

The Academy will house about 375 students and 20 teachers and will be led by a director, assistant, instructional coach and counselor.

All students will take the core curriculum (ELA, Math, Science, & Social Studies) electives specific to an academic major within the academy structure, or general electives listed. The Academy will offer courses at the Pre-AP level and share course offerings for AP level courses.

The courses (programs) which are open to all students on the Johnston Campus include: Band, Orchestra, Choir, Guitar, Art, Foreign Language, Theater, Journalism (Newspaper and Yearbook), Dance (including the performing dance team).

UIL Athletics: Cross-country, football, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis and track.

UIL Academics: Speech & debate, current events, science, calculator skills, poetry, and spelling.
