The AISD River City Band Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28, 2009, at Kealing Middle School. The festival is primarily intended for second and lower middle school bands that will not enter the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. However, any middle school band, including first bands, may participate for the benefit of receiving a CD recording, taped comments, and written comments in preparation for UIL. The festival is not a competition, but, instead, an opportunity for band students to experience the contest environment. Sightreading is optional. Each Austin ISD performing group is asked to pay a $100.00 fee, and bus transportation will be provided. Each non-Austin ISD performing group is asked to pay a $250.00 fee. Concert and Sightreading Consultants will be: Garth Gunderson, Billy Harrell, Chico Portillo, Jim Van Zandt Please find the link below for the entry form. Fill out and turn in a separate form for each band. Times will be assigned on a “first come, first served” basis. You may also e-mail me this information. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Gurgel at 414-2702 or mgurgel@austinisd.org.
