Many thanks to all who came to our Read Around the World Book Fair!
The fair was a great success! It is wonderful to see students so excited about reading. The teachers have told me about all the wonderful wish books they have received from their generous students. All of our teachers are so grateful to you for adding so many books to their classroom libraries. Our “One For Books” donation program raised $158 to purchase 10 new library books for our sister school, Allison Elementary School. Way to go! Students met our challenge to raise more than $100 and have won a pajama day!
The library raised approximately $6700, which will be used to improve our library collection, fund our Summer Library Program, and partially fund our Library Clerk position. We also received approximately $1700 in free books for our library collection directly from the fair. These 134 new books are on display in the cases near the Kiker main office. Another bonus is we received $1400 in bonus dollars to spend in their catalog. We will be purchasing some new seating for our Fiction area. Thank you for supporting Kiker Library. We are the best because you are the best!
Thank you to ALL of our wonderful volunteers who helped during the fair. We could not have done it without you. Our set up and decorating crew headed by Sarah Leese was amazing at creating the wonderful displays in the hallways. The students just love it! Great Job!
Next Book Fair will be May 25 - 27, 2010 with the theme Book Fair Diner - All You Can Read!!
