The LBJ/LASA Newspaper, THE LIBERATOR, will be receiving The Crown Award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association in March at Columbia University, NY for the fourth consecutive year (and the fifth in the past six years). The Liberator is the only student paper in Texas to receive both the Crown and Pacemaker awards. |

LASA Science Olympiad Team fielding three teams, won 1st, 3rd, and 4th overall out of 28 teams and won the 'Spirit Award' at the GreenHill Invitational in Dallas, 12/08, and fielding two teams, won 1st and 3rd overall out of 30 teams at the CyFalls Invitational in Houston, 11/08. |

THE LBJ/LASA Newspaper, THE LIBERATOR, has been named a Pacemaker Finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association. This is the third consecutive year, and the fourth time in the last six years, that The Liberator has received this top national recognition. The Liberator has thus far received two Pacemakers, known as the Pulitzer Prize of high school journalism. Winners will be announced November 16 in St. Louis at national journalism convention sponsored by Journalism Education Association and NSPA. |

The LBJ/LASA CAMERATA ORCHESTRA is a "National Winner" in the Excellence in Achievement Orchestra competition. In addition two LASA students, a violist and a violinist, were named outstanding soloists in the entire competition. |
