NEWS

Back To School Night 2010, Wednesday September 1st

Back to School Night will begin at 5pm.

The exact location of the club browsing, pep rally, and schedule pick-up for both schools has not been determined.

Class rotations will begin promptly at 6pm. Prior to 6pm, you should have picked up two separate pieces of paper:

1) A copy of your child's schedule that will include a copy of the rotation that you are to follow for the evening on the back.

9th Grade (A-G)
9th Grade (H-P)
9th Grade (Q-Z)

10th Grade (A-L)
10th Grade (M-Z)

11th Grade (A-L)
11th Grade (M-Z)

12th Grade

2) A copy of a map of the school with the overall rotation schedule and times printed on the back.

If you know your way around the building or your child will be escorting you around, you have a copy of your child's schedule, AND you would like to avoid standing in line to pick up these two pieces of paper, you may print a copy of your assigned rotation for the evening. The rotations are based on grade level alpha.

Please do not try to follow your own schedule for the evening. It will cause frustration and confusion for all parties.

Orchestra Tryout Info:

ORCHESTRA STUDENTS AND PARENTS: Due to professional development obligations that I was previously unaware of, I need to adjust the schedule of the auditions for next Wednesday and Thursday, August 11th and 12th.  All of the times have been moved back 3 hours, and the first audition will start at 4:30  on Wednesday and Thursday. The attachments on the LASA website will be updated to reflect these changes.

Thank you so much for your patience as we sort all of these issues out. I'm very excited to work with all of you and make great music. If there are conflicts, please don't hesitate to contact me to work out another time.

The new Orchestra Website is up and running! Here is information for auditions. Parents and students can find out when they are to audition for the upcoming school year.

New Website: The Liberal Arts and Science Academy will debut its new Website shortly before the new year begins. The URL will remain lasaonline.org, but stay tuned for a new look.

Important 2010-11 School Year Information All Students:

Look over your schedule and make sure you have been scheduled into a class for 1st through 8th period for both semesters and that all before and after school classes that you want on your schedule are there.

If you have a hole in your schedule, it is because you either do not have enough classes or there is a scheduling conflict. If this applies to you or you have proof of enrollment or credit for a course that is currently on your schedule then you need to attend the Take Care of Business Early Days (TCBE) or Freshmen Orientation to make schedule changes.

LASA’s Master Schedule is now complete and any schedule changes other than those listed above will not be honored.

You will need to report to your Forum class at the beginning of the school day for the first two days of school. Forum classroom assignments will be posted on the walls around the building.

The bell schedule for the first week of school will be a CCCAB rotation. The bell schedule will have Forum first, then periods 1 through 8 for two days. Wednesday will be a regular “C” day, Thursday will be an “A” day (1, 3, 5, and 7) and Friday will be a “B” day (2, 4, 6, and 8).

Lockers have not yet been pre-assigned. Students enrolled in Band are to see the band directors in order to obtain a locker in the band hall area. You will not be able to store your books in your locker until the first day of school. You are responsible for providing your own lock for the locker. If you take occupancy in a locker that is not assigned to you, the lock will be cut off and all items collected without warning. All other locker questions or concerns need to be directed towards Mrs. Meyer.

The District will be mailing out student course requests to all students within the next two weeks. Please disregard that mailing.
