LASA BusStudents can travel to LASA on Magnet Bus Routes provided by AISD. To find a student's route and closest bus stop, use the AISD Bus Stop Finder. LASA/Kealing Morning Bus Routes Auxiliary Bus Permits: Should a student need to be dropped off at a different location than the student’s house, the parent will need to complete an Auxiliary Bus Rider Request and Permit form. If a student needs to ride a bus different from the one assigned on a temporary basis, s/he MUST have a permit. To secure a permit, the parent or guardian needs to complete an Auxiliary Bus Rider Request and Permit and the student needs to bring that request to the LASA Main Office for the appropriate signature. The student needs to give the bus driver the form to be permitted to ride that bus. 2009-10 LATE START BUS ROUTESThroughout the school year, high school students will begin the school day approximately two hours late. Th find a student's route and bus stop for these days, use the AISD Bus Stop Finder. The Late BusAISD provides Late Bus service to LASA students, departing daily at 6:15 p.m. from the parking lot on Lazy Creek Blvd behind the Theater/near the Gym. Late Bus service is via traditional yellow school buses, not Capital Metro buses. Each bus serves a specific part of town. Buses deliver students directly to their homes (or mid-block if there are a number of students on a given street). It is imperative that students know how to direct drivers from LASA to their individual homes. They need to know the major intersections closest to their homes and to then be able to direct the drivers to their individual homes from that intersection. While each bus/bus driver is supposed to service the same area every day, there is not consistency in this to insure that a driver will remember a given route. There is no marking on the buses to show which bus goes to which part of town, so a student should ask each bus driver until it locates the correct bus and then report to that same one in the future. Make sure the student notes the bus number because once identified, the bus should stay the same (but no guarantee). For the most part, the driver is the same, too, but sometimes there are substitutes. Students taking the Late Bus will not necessarily get home at the same time every evening. Where you live, how many students are on the bus on a given night and how well each student knows where he or she lives will greatly affect what time your student gets home. The drivers are good about making adjustments in the order they deliver the students so the route is done in the most logical, efficient sequence. If you have questions about the Late Bus, please contact Hallie Howie, Coordinator for Scheduling, AISD Department of Transportation at HHowie[at]austinisd.org or 512 414-0239.

To subscribe to the Parent and Friends of LASA (PFLASA) listserv, send a blank e-mail to pflasa-subscribe[at]yahoogroups.com. This is an announce-only list, so your mailbox will not be inundated with a lot of e-mail. Once you have joined, go to the homepage of the Yahoo Group - (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pflasa/). You have to Sign In (at the top of the page) with a Yahoo login (or create a new one). Click on Database in the left-hand column and, voila, the Carpool Database. Student ParkingAll LASA students driving to school must have a permit to park in the LBJ/LASA student parking lot. To apply for a permit or review student parking regulations, download the LBJ/LASA High School Parking Permit Application.
