• New Parent Orientation: Is your family new to Mathews? Please join Principal Kinkade Friday, Aug. 29th at 8am for an informal meeting to learn more about Mathews.
• Back to School Nights: There will be two "Back-to-School" Nights: one for grades 3-6 on Thursday, Sept 4th; and another for grades PK-2 on Thursday, Sept 11th.
• Octoberama: Join us for the best school carnival in town! Saturday, Nov. 1st, 2008, 11am - 3pm, at Mathews Elementary. Octoberama offers games and booths for the kids, an OUTSTANDING Silent Auction, and a great array of food. On top of that, we'll have great entertainment throughout the day. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Without this fundraiser, the Mathews PTA would not be able to help support our school library, offer grants to teachers for innovative teaching ideas, or support Heritage month activities, to name a few.

The mission of Mathews Elementary School is to educate children with positive attitudes, academic foundations, and a life-long love of learning.

The uniqueness of Mathews Elementary School lies in its having the most diverse student body of any elementary school in A.I.S.D. Our school motto is "We Educate the World". It contains a broad social, economic,racial, linguistic, and cultural mixture. We have Bilingual and ESL programs in Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. The special nature of the Mathews student body has attracted a highly committed group of teachers and staff, dedicated to the highest quality education for all students. Since being selected as a demonstration school by A.I.S.D. in 1990, parents and teachers have worked together to improve all aspects of education at Mathews. We have incorporated global studies,whole language, cross-grade learning, and technology into the curriculum and have altered several non-curricular aspects of the school day.

The principal, teachers, staff, students and parents are ready to meet this challenge and seize the opportunity. Working together, we can make Mathews a showplace of educational excellence for decades to come.
