Theatre Awards, Honors and Kudos
2007-08
On November 14, theatre students traveled to Ft. Worth to compete in various events and present workshops at the Texas Thespian Festival. Monique Huff and Reno Bostick received superior ratings from all three of their judges in Duet Musical and automatically qualified for the International Thespian Festival to be held in Lincoln, Nebraska in July 2008. Christi Coufal and Amanda Perry competed in various Technical Theatre events throughout the festival weekend. Christi was awarded Top Ten Technician in the State of Texas.
Joshua Mayes (Solo Musical), Sarah Gernsbacher and Denise Manning (Duet Acting), Rachel Barish, Alison Raven, and Annie Kuhl (Group Musical), Sierra and Lauren Tothero (Pantomine) received Excellent ratings for their events.
Leah Barish was one of three students in the state to lead a workshop at the festival. Her workshop, about the dramaturgical process for plays, used study guides from Oedipus Rex, also created by Leah, done in comic book fashion.
Mr. Tatum and Mr. Ramon gave highly attended and interesting workshops on Inflatable Scenery, Viewpointing, and Rasaboxes.
2006-07
- The Theatre Arts students and directors will be perfoming "Reckless" in Scotland in August, 2007 at the American High School Theatre Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
- Altogether, MacTheatre has put on or provided the technical stagecraft for five productions this year, with several more to come.
