CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2008-09 MAC BAND FOR EARNING THE UIL SWEEPSTAKES TROPHY (1st divisions in marching, concert and sightreading) GO MAC BAND!
The McCallum High School Band program is highly respected throughout the state on the concert stage as well as on the marching field. The MAC BAND is a consistent UIL Sweepstakes Trophy winner (1st Divisions in Marching, Concert and Sightreading). The McCallum Wind Ensemble was recently named as a State Finalist in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition. In 2005-06, the Marching Band advanced to the UIL STATE MARCHING CONTEST held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. In addition, the McCallum Band most recently performed at Carnegie Hall on June 15, 2008, marking the fourth McCallum Band appearance in the world’s most famous concert hall!
The annual McCallum Band banquet will be held on Friday, May 15, 7:00-11:00 p.m. at "Vista On Seward Hill", 6414 Bee Cave Rd. Austin, Texas 78746. All band members are encouraged and invited to attend this celebration of a wonderful and memorable year for the MAC BAND. In addition, parents (especially senior parents) are invited to attend. Cost of the band banquet is $30 per person.
MONEY WILL BE COLLECTED DURING BAND CLASS ON THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND MONDAY (April 30, May 1, and May 4). Checks should be made payable to THE MAC BAND.
The band banquet evening begins with an Italian dinner catered by Sterling Affairs in the Banquet Hall. After dinner, all go to the Celebration Hall where awards are presented, 2009-2010 leadership positions are announced and 2009 seniors are honored. A video presentation follows shortly thereafter capturing MAC BAND highlights of 2008-09. Then it's "party time" with a dance and a DJ.
Attire for the affair is semi-formal.
"Vista on Seward Hill" is truly a showplace--a perfect setting for the 2009 McCallum Band Banquet. A special thank you goes to Chelsie Dever's step-father, Anthony Fernandez, for helping us secure this wonderful venue and negotiating a very "special deal" for the MAC BAND. He helps manage this beautiful facility. Another big thank you goes to this year's president of the band, Sophia Sherman, for organizing the 2008-09 band banquet. Go Seniors 2009!!!
