4th Grade Project

Students researched Native American tribes of Texas in groups. They then chose an individual artifact they learned about through their tribe's research. Students made Kidspiration webs to organize their ideas, including all facts gained from research. Next, students wrote from the point of view of their chosen artifact, choosing any style of writing to describe it and bring it to life. They then created a model to compliment their writing. Finally, students presented their models and writing pieces to the class before putting them on display.

First Grade Field Trips

First grade went on two field trips recently. The first trip was to the Travis County Expo Center to meet some horses. The students participated in the Black Stallion Project, a program designed to encourage literacy in young students. The children learned how to groom, feed, and shoe horses. They even got to read to horses! First graders also went to the Austin Zoo. The classes rode the train, ate lunch and observed many different animals. Everyone had a wonderful time!
