‘You Can’t Hide That Porter Pride’

March 9, 2007

Dear Parents:

TAKS testing will occur during the week of April 16th-20th.  Students and staff have worked hard all year to ensure students have success not only on TAKS, but also in each forthcoming year.

This year, The Porter Legacy Year, is proving to be a very special year.  I believe students have a sense of history and we have been treasuring each day here.  We all remain focused on the present moment and the tasks on hand.  Your child’s education has been the most important thing on our minds.  Having said that, all of us are facing a transition as this year draws to a close.

The counselors from Covington, Fulmore, and Bedichek middle schools have been visiting Porter students (at Porter) to help students fill out choice sheets for next year.  These three middle schools have also made plans to have students visit their campuses.  The two high schools (Travis and Crockett) that most of our students will be attending have been visiting with our 8th grade students as well.  Counselors from both high schools will come to Porter to help our 8th graders complete their high school choice sheets for the 2007-08 school year.

In the meantime, as we prepare for the April TAKS tests, please remember that many of our teachers tutor after school.  All students are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity and free snacks are provided!

As we move into spring, many culminating events to mark the end of the 2006–07 school year have been planned.  The schedule for the next couple of months is:
