AISD Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen came to Sunset Valley to personally deliver the flag recognizing our Exemplary status.  Arriving by school bus, she was very impressed with the school.  She made particular note of our garden, library and murals.

Staff News

This year Sunset Valley will be a Leadership Development School, which means we will have more administrative staff on campus. Former Assistant Principal Sondra McWilliams will now be a Principal Intern. We welcome Martha Castillo as our new Assistant Principal and Dustin Breithaupt as Assistant Principal Intern.

Mrs. Castillo was previously a Fourth and Fifth Grade Bilingual teacher at Kocuerk Elementary. Mr. Breithaupt comes to us from Allan Elementary where he worked with early childhood.

New teachers include Gilbert Sandoval in the Learning Lab, Second Grade teacher Megan Kinback and Fourth Grade teacher Monica Hettenhausen. Elaine Carty has moved from Day Care to the Learning Lab. Former Parent Support Specialist Delia Sanchez is now working with Special Education. Mary Parra will now be Parent Support Specialist.
