Student Council Wins Award

Student Council members accepted their trophy for being an "Honary Student Council" for the 2nd year in a row.  The trophy was given on Oct. 21 in Buda during the Leaders R Us workshop. The girls stopped off at the Pumpkin Patch on the way home.

We Are Girls Conference

Ms. Molina and Ms. Chavez took some girls to the Gen Austin 7th Annual Girls Conference. The girls attended on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Austin High School. They had a great time. A few of the brave ones  tasted a crickett. The girls even started a conga line during lunch in the cafeteria. A former Sunset Valley student Georgia Hernandez was one of the Master of Ceremonies announcers for the event. The girls had a great time.

Sunset Valley Student Council has received the "Honor Student Council School of Excellence" award for the second year in a row. Thank you Student Council for all your hard work and willingness to be school leaders. Your efforts are much appreciated.


Student Council Green

Go Green!

The Student Council "Go Green" team is dedicated to bringing Recycling Awareness to the campus. The "Litter Less Campaign" is geared to improve recycling, composting and litter management on campus and at home. Student Council members have posted bulletin boards around campus. Honor Council

Safe Place

Student Council members have chosen Safe Place as their communitiy outreach project this year. They will be conducting a toy drive beginning November 15 and running through December 13. Toys collected will benefit the children staying at Safe Place during the holiday season. New toys are preferred but gently used toys are also accepted. Thank you for helping Student Council reach out to the community members in need.

About Student Council

The goals of Student Council are to promote citizenship, leadership, school spirit, responsibility and team work. Student Council had a very productive 2012-2013 school year and accomplished many tasks. Sunset Valley Elementary Student Council was the only elementary school in Austin to receive the Student Council Excellence Award. TESPA will present the group with a trophy at the Leaders ‘R’ Us conference in Buda during the last week of October. Student Council representatives are: Gina Molina, Meghan Powell and Delia Sanchez. Student Council is looking forward to another great year.
