PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Teachers and administrators need tools to know how to adapt to changing populations. The Office of Bilingual Education/ ESL constantly provides workshop and professional development opportunities to help meet the needs of our growing ELL population. These are sessions our office believes will support teachers while providing specific skills and strategies to address the needs of ELLs.
Workshops offered in partnership with Region XIII and the Office of Bilingual Education/ ESL focus on the specific needs of the District ELLs population. These courses are listed in AISD e-campus, as well as communicated monthly from our office. Funding is provided to help with the cost of substitute teachers, course registration, and supplemental pay for after school hours. All requests for professional development must first be approved by the building principal. After approval, PD requests must be submitted from the building principal to our office.
