How To Setup These Two Applications in OSX

CLASSxp (attendance) and InteGrade Pro (gradebook) are server based applications. CLASSxp was upgraded this summer to version 8.3 and runs native in OSX. IGPro still requires OS 9.x (Classic) to operate. Access to these two server based applications requires access the the SASI server.

These instructions are meant to help you setup shortcuts to these applications.

Connect To the SASI Server

From the Teacher's Desktop, go to:

Go> Connect To Server...

and a window similar to the one at the far right will appear.

Type our SASI server's IP Address in the Server Address: window.

Type your campus' SASI server address as shown at the right. Instead of typing the three X's, type your campus' three digit numeric code.

Select the Connect button.

Log In To the SASI Server

Enter your short name (similar to your Notes Login) and password.

Select the Connect button.

Select Your SASIxp Server

Select SASIxp and click the OK button.

Select Your Campus SASI Folder

First, make sure your SASIxp window is in the column View. See the settings to the right.

Click once on the SASI folder with your campus number to select it.

Next, click once on the CLASSxp application to select it.

Note: If you double-click when asked to click once, you will experience unexpected results.

Add The CLASSxp icon to your Teacher's Dock.

In the third Column View window you will see the CLASSxp icon along with information about this application.

Note: You will know that you have selected the application itself because you will see a small padlock in the lower left corner of the icon.

Drag this icon to your dock until the other icons in your dock move out of the way to make room for it.

Now when you click once on this CLASSxp icon in your Teacher's Dock, you will be asked to log in to the SASI server and the CLASSxp application will be launched.

Add the Integrade Pro icon to your Teacher's Dock.

Use the same procedures to add the Integrade Pro application icon to your Teacher's Dock.

Troubleshooting

My shortcut doesn't work any more: If you drag the CLASSxp Alias to the dock or your desktop the shortcut should work fine unless someone renames or deletes the Alias on the server. You can tell an icon is just an alias because there will be a black arrow in the lower left corner of the icon. We recommend the above procedure of creating a shortcut in your Teacher's Dock directly to the application. The small padlock you see in the icon's lower left corner is a reminder that the application is locked and cannot be deleted or renamed.

My shortcut ended up on the desktop and does not work: If you drag the CLASSxp application's icon to the desktop, an icon will appear on your desktop but it will not function properly. Trash the defective icon from your desktop and try again dragging the CLASSxp applicaton's icon to your Teacher's Dock until the other icons on the dock move out of the way and make room for your new shortcut.
